Position Available: Fund Resource Associate

  • Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the Fund Resource Associate will organize, assist and enhance United Way of Tulare County’s Community Campaign and Leadership Giving Campaign; assists the DRD in cultivating and soliciting major gifts, grants and sponsorships from individuals, corporations, foundations, government agencies and others; assists in development in donor database and donor management system; coordinates special events and fundraisers; performs other functions as needed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assists in all aspects of the annual Community Campaign and Leadership Giving program with an expectation to increase revenue annually.

    • Supports and assists in developing a work plan that outlines strategies for successfully achieving financial development goals and objectives.

    • Gives leadership to the design and development of marketing materials, including, but not limited to: campaign brochure, campaign video, newspaper ads, press release, business cards, print materials for various projects, and other programs as assigned.

    • Develops and implements a communications plan directed at donors and key community leaders.

    • Provides leadership to annual United Way fundraisers.

    • Provides leadership to annual campaign kickoff / recognition event.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Attends to logistics of campaign events including obtaining sponsorships, recruiting volunteers, solicitation of gifts, and preparing related printed materials and publications.

    • Attends board meetings and designated committee meetings.

    • Attends key community events as appropriate.

    • Represents United Way of Tulare County in selected community groups and/or organizations.

    Work Environment

    • Standard office environment. The job requires that during the campaign period, July through December, a significant amount of time is spent conducting workplace campaigns with a high probability of having to attend early morning and evening meetings and occasional week-end events/activities. Travel within Tulare County and outside the area will also be required.

  • Education and Experience:

    • Some college education preferably with background of Marketing/ Communications, Public or Business Administration, Organizational Behavior, or related field; not less than 2 years experience in resource development, marketing/communications, sales and/or related fields, or an appropriate mix of lived experience and education.

    Knowledge of:

    • Research and fundraising techniques.

    • Commonly used office and computer applications

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, especially in speaking to small or large groups.

    • Well organized, self-directed and able to focus on most important projects. Decisive. Contagious sense of urgency.

    • Ability to work with diverse groups and settings.

    • Detail oriented and ability to multi-task.

    • Ability to work flexible schedules which will include early mornings, evenings and weekends during, but not limited to, peak fall campaign season.

    • Ability to work with minimum supervision, but doesn’t hesitate to seek timely assistance.

    • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with United Way employees, Board of Directors, peer-to-peer relationships with other United Ways, Employee Campaign Coordinators, and the general public.

    • Bi-lingual; Spanish

    License and Certificate:

    • Access to own transportation.

    • Valid California Driver’s License.

    • Car insurance as required by law.

  • $55,000- $65,000, commensurate of experience

 

Position Available: Director of Development

  • To provide oversight and leadership of Resource Development which includes the annual fundraising campaign, special event fundraisers, and individual donor engagement including direct solicitations and creation of leadership affinity groups when directed.

    The Director of Development will identify, cultivate, retain, and develop donor prospects, and establish and strengthen relationships with current donors, employers, and the community to build donor loyalty, raise/leverage resources, and ensure a positive brand experience with United Way. He/she is accountable for the effective and efficient management of workplace campaigns to encourage increased participation and giving within all accounts, in order to maximize potential and reach or exceed organizational revenue goals. The position will develop creative methods to grow resources for United Way of Tulare County and the community.

    50% Relationship Management

    • Lead volunteers and build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders which increases revenue and expands opportunities.

    • Spend a minimum of 50% of time out of the office in order to engage with donors, potential donors, and volunteers.

    • Research, identify, and develop relationships with non-giving accounts.

    • Supervise, coordinate, and empower volunteers (and committees) to effectively and efficiently implement key strategies related to United Way of Tulare County.

    • Conduct face-to-face meetings with current donors and prospects in order to expand United Way’s influence and revenue.

    • Develop strategies to recruit and cultivate key campaign volunteers. This includes staffing committee meetings; providing board/committee members and volunteers with information, messaging platform, training, and direction; and monitoring progress of fundraising efforts.

    • Participate in community activities that contribute to the acquisition and retention of individual donors.

    30% Campaign Management

    • Oversee workplace giving campaigns and all related key relationships to maintain or increase revenue and demonstrate value of United Way. Supervise and co-create strategy, provide support, and encourage professional development for the workplace giving staff member.

    • Ensure the development and implementation of campaign strategies to meet financial resource potential.

    • Track revenue generation, retention, and visits to key business activity throughout the year; provide regular activity status; update projections to target; and conduct the appropriate account analysis to build and refine business goals.

    • Research, develop and maintain all aspects of relationship/contact management for key donors, including database management, recognition materials, oral and written communications.

    • Develop and oversee budgets, work plans and realistic timetables to accomplish organizational goals.

    • Create motivational meetings and special events as related to resource development, including all arrangements and recruitment of support as needed (volunteers and staff).

    20% Cross Functional Duties

    • Work effectively with other staff members and key volunteers to provide appropriate support of overall organizational goals.

    • Leverage relationships to create additional opportunities with other organizations and individuals.

    • Foster creative thinking and facilitate future partnerships within corporate accounts.

  • EDUCATIONAL PREREQUISITES: Bachelor’s degree in social science, business, marketing/communications, or related field; or an appropriate mix of lived experience and education.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • At least 3-5 years proven fund development or sales experience in the United Way system and/or nonprofit preferred.

    • Able to demonstrate ability to increase revenue through implemented strategies and relationship building skills

    • Able to demonstrate highly developed communication, organization, and planning skills

    • Developed technical and analytical skills related to fund development

    • Entrepreneurial and innovative thinking

    • Ability to present information and data in written, electronic, and oral forms

    • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

    • Must have the use of a reliable vehicle for transportation to outside meetings

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

    • Requires time away from the office, traveling by car, walking to appointments, and taking stairs

    • Requires the ability to multi-task between workplace campaign, individual giving, meetings, special events and strategic thinking.

    • Requires a normal amount of typing and data entry for customer relationship management

    • Requires presence during noncore hours and a consistent relationship building attitude

  • $65,000 to $75,000 commensurate of experience
