Our Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP), assists individuals and families in a state of crisis.
The United Way of Tulare County is just one of several agencies who distribute ESFP funds. In Tulare County, over $412,000 is given annually to organizations addressing crucial food, shelter and utility needs.
Since it was established in 1983, EFSP has distributed $3.8 billion to over 14,000 human service agencies in more than 2,500 communities across the county. In accordance with the federal legislation which created the program, special emphasis is placed on the identification of, and assistance to the elderly, families with children, Native Americans, and veterans.
