Advocate of the Year - Don Ritter

We’re proud to recognize Don Ritter as United Way Tulare County’s Advocate of the Year—a title earned through decades of quiet leadership, tireless service, and unwavering community spirit.

Drew Sorenson, retired educator and immediate past president of United Way Tulare County, shares how Don has been a “glue guy” in the community—connecting people, rallying support, and always showing up with a smile. Whether it’s helping build a school, spreading the word about local fundraisers, or working the front window at the World Ag Expo selling bean burritos, Don leads by example and lifts others through his actions.

Community Spirit Award - Sam Logan

Pablo Martinez, owner of El Rosal Restaurant, shares why he’s nominating Sam Logan for the Community Spirit Award—and it’s a story 40 years in the making.

From cleaning parks in Visalia to planting trees in Sequoia National Forest, and even building water towers in Thailand, Sam’s dedication to service spans both local and global communities. But his impact doesn’t stop there—Sam has been a champion for small businesses, helping Pablo rally community support for over 30 years.

Community Investment - Visalia Chamber of Commerce

We’re thrilled to celebrate the Visalia Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of the 2025 Community Investment Award!

Karishma Fazboy, Supervising Staff Services Analyst with Tulare County Probation and United Way Board Member, shares how the Chamber has been a driving force for growth, collaboration, and leadership in Tulare County. As a catalyst, convenor, and champion, the Chamber brings together businesses, nonprofits, and government entities to uplift the entire community.

Hand Raiser Award - Anthem Blue Cross

We’re proud to recognize Anthem Blue Cross with the 2025 Handraiser Award—a tribute to their unwavering commitment to community support and partnership.

Rosemary Caso, Executive Director of United Way Tulare County, shares how Anthem Blue Cross consistently steps up to meet urgent needs—from sponsoring hygiene kits to supporting nearly 300 foster teens through our Holiday Heroes initiative. Legacy Award - Catherine Demopolis Lamp  

The Legacy Award, named in honor of Catherine Demopolis Lamp, will recognize an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to the community. She was an advocate for nutritional food and access to food to not only our nation but worldwide. Catherine was a founding member of Foodlink and the creator of My Plate. Her legacy of food advocacy for all will not be forgotten.
